In Japan, the business year as well as the school year end in March.
Students move up to the next grade or school in April, many change schools. Many teachers change schools and even cities as well.
Many businesses transfer employees to different departments, branches, cities and even countries.
Forced relocation and transfers is strange to most western countries, but business as usual for many large Japanese companies and the Japanese school system.
Buying a house is not a stable thing to do as you may have to change cities in a year for a year. It is not uncommon for husbands to live in a different city and visit their family once a week or once a month or less because of business.
That being said, at C.A.I. this uncertainty and instability affects us too.
We have students and members coming and going this time of year because of the changes and relocating. Throw in the mix of a bad economy and high unemployment the outcome is unpredictable. Many small English schools have closed. Many places offering one or limited services can't survive as well.
Some CAI programs will shrink or become obsolete, some may grow and new ones are created to meet interest and demands of the community.
So, it truly is madness in March as people learn of their new destinations and we at C.A.I. try to offer new programs, revise old programs and discontinue programs that are no longer in demand. A major change and venture of uncertainty that happens every March.
This year is no different. We have discontinued some programs, we have minimized some and offered new ones as well.
